Dr. John R. Wood teaches environmental science and behaviour courses and is Director of the Environmental Studies program at The King's University College, Edmonton. He is also the Academic Dean at the Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies. Dr. Wood grew up in Clear Lake, Washington. He is a Fellow of the American Scientific Affiliation and his research is on urban ecology, sustainability and a sense of place. Dr. Wood has a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in Aquatic Ecology and Entomology. His research was on population ecology, secondary production, and the reproductive behaviour of a group of caddisflies, where he worked out the first demonstration of pheromones in caddisflies. Since moving to Edmonton in 1990, Dr. Wood has switched from stream to urban ecology and worked on the population biology and behaviour of White-tailed Jackrabbits in Edmonton and Calgary. Over the last decade he has worked extensively with the City of Edmonton on urban natural areas conservation and was on the committee that prepared Edmonton's award-winning "Urban Parks Management Plan (2006-2016)". Dr. Wood's most recent research has been on Sustainability, Human Agency, and Our Place, and he just published a Primer on Climate Change in Faith Today (January/February 2008)
