Dr. Jonathan Strand is Professor of Philosophy, and acting Dean of Arts and Science, at Concordia University College of Alberta. Dr. Strand grew up near Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of a Lutheran clergyman. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a B.A. in philosophy, with honours (summa cum laude). After earning a Master of Divinity degree from a small Lutheran Seminary, he was accepted into graduate school of the University of Notre Dame. There he was able to study philosophy in the world’s pre-eminent department for philosophy of religion and under the world’s most accomplished Christian philosopher and philosopher of religion, Alvin Plantinga, who served as Jonathan's dissertation director. After earning his doctorate, Dr. Strand served for three years as an instructor of philosophy at Valparaiso University, in Indiana, and then was recruited as a professor of philosophy at Concordia University College of Alberta, in Edmonton. Jonathan has a wife, Ruth, and three children–all vastly above average. Jonathan’s academic specialties are logic and philosophy of religion, followed by philosophy of science and epistemology.
